About Us

Dolwen is a hill farm near the beautiful village of Llanarmon DC, near Llangollen, producing Welsh Lamb and Welsh Black Beef. We have been involved in numerous agri-environmental schemes for over 20 years, improving the flora and fauna of the farm.

We made the decision to start selling our lamb and beef in boxes directly to the customer 7 years ago. Partly because we knew we had an excellent product to sell that was not realising its true worth selling through the livestock markets.

We are registered with Hybu Cig Cymru (Meat Promotion Wales) as suppliers of PGI Welsh Lamb and Beef. The PGI status of Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef guarantees the authenticity and integrity of the brand.

Please note that there is currently high demand for our Hogget and therefore we have a waiting list.

PGI assures consumers that Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef have full traceability. Only PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef are guaranteed to be sourced from lambs or cattle born and reared in Wales, which are fully traceable, and have been slaughtered and processed in HCC-approved abattoirs. PGI status protects the integrity of the Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef brands.

Our Products

Half PGI Welsh Lamb

PGI Welsh Lamb

Traditional grassfed lambs from our farm. Born and raised here, with high animal welfare, giving 100% traceability and negligible food miles for the customer.

Lambs are born in April/May, outside on the most suitable fields with shelter if needed. They then graze on our pasture over the spring/summer until they are naturally ready, depending on the year, but normally from September onward.

As a small farming business, we can butcher the lamb to your requirements, for example, joints can be cut in half for smaller families.

PGI Welsh Black Beef

Our Welsh Black beef is extremely popular, it is a well-known traditional breed in Wales, our beef is extra mature, kept on farm for at least two and a half years.

We provide 5kg or 10kg beef boxes, to include as much variety as possible. Dealing directly with us, you get the personal service that has for so long been missing from your shopping experience.

Our customers love the provenance of the meat we produce, and that they get to know us as the producer, giving a personal level of service, which they appreciate.

Welsh Hogget

Hogget is over 12 month old lamb, we normally have hogget in stock from May until September. It’s a very popular seller due to its fuller flavour – the hoggets are born and raised on our farm in April/May, they then have at least a full year here. Joints tend to be bigger with hogget, so we can ask our butcher to cut them in half if required.
